President Paris Hilton in 2012?

August 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

We seem to have a new addition to the campaign extravaganza: Paris Hilton. Ms. Hilton announced her candidacy with a stinging rebuke against an opponent, calling him “that wrinkly white-haired guy.” One belittles Hilton at own risk.

No one gives the feisty gal a chance since The Party either/or choice is set for this fall. But what about 2012?

First impressions appear dismissive. Blonde, airhead, woman, rich, glamour, limousine, red carpet, la-la celeb, private jet, jail time for DUI. She never killed anyone but that’s irrelevant.

Dismissed off the bat for sure. But take another gander at the criteria listed above save gender. Sound like someone you know?

Why not give the lady a chance or at least a consideration? After all this is America, the land where anybody can be president. Right?

Ready for qualifications? With Paris Hilton? Let’s have a go.

Public trust is paramount in a public official. Questionable ethics should be ferreted out before one assumes office. The wealth of Paris stands ready for an independent audit. Best do the dirty work up front.

A leader must listen, synthesize viewpoints and resolve conflicts. Hilton’s ability in dealing with others could be tested thru a series of scenarios or mock situations. Perhaps like the Apprentice. Performance to be noted and graded by supervisor. Donald Trump anyone?

The president is head of the military. A rigorous two-year program at an Army War College would ensure that graduates know the meaning of going to war. “I want America to know that I’m, like, totally ready to lead,” Paris said. Uh-huh. How does she look crawling under barbed wire with live ammo over her head?

It’s important to examine presidential candidates carefully.
